Andrea Newton

Intrinsically, I am concerned with light and its resonance from within a painting. I want my work to be imbued with a stillness - inspiring the viewer to contemplate and then connect to a feeling relating to the painting itself. Through the process of layering paint and then scraping and etching, I strive to create something of a touchstone. To find something that we can share an affinity with. Water, Bone's and Flower's are the motifs I have chosen in order to illuminate the poetry found in these abstracted landscapes. Andreahas painted for 25 years and has a Bachelor of Fine Art from The National Art School and was the winner of The 2012 St Xavier prize for painting. Her work is held in private and public collections in Australia and Europe.
